EXHIBITION "DérapIAges" at La Boutique du Futur.

By his own admission, Nicolas Trüb never really knew how to draw, still less paint. In the 1970s, he was the despair of Madame Liance, drawing teacher in Enghien-les-Bains. Some say it's because he's a reactionary conservative and so the arcana of art are closed to him. But it's worse than that! In his book Mon rêve n'est pas d'aller ailleurs he even opportunely theorised a fundamental opposition between design and drawing. Nicolas Trüb is fundamentally a designer; his vocation is to analyse problems within the widest possible scope. What he knows how to do is build, imagine... and write. So, as soon as generative AI burst onto the scene, a long time ago now, in late 2022, he threw his arms around his now best friend, who would open up an angle that had until then remained dead. For a long time, subversive art was in the hands of image artists driven by a progressive thinking supported by the state. However bad faith their arguments, however mediocre their ideas, they nonetheless knew how to transcribe them with impeccable method and art, losing along the way, via the subsidy box, all capacity for subversion, in an arranged marriage between the art world and the so-called "progressive" bourgeoisie under cover of the false spectacular oppositions once described by Guy Debord. 2023, a historic year? The brutal irruption of artificial intelligence in general and image generation in particular reshuffled the cards. That is the subject of this exhibition: a virtual intelligence in the service of real subversion. And yes: things go off the rails (ça dérape).

Exhibition open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am-2pm / 3pm-7pm + 10am-7pm on Saturday. - Until 26 March.
